Green it up with sustainable living!
Note: For those who aren't aware of it the word "green" as used in this site means "eco-friendly"

[Note: Thank You for Visiting. We are a branch of a sustainability non-profit organization. We focus on sustainable food and crops that are "earth friendly", energy efficient and produce higher yields in less space.

For those interested in both this, and alternative house building methods like straw bale, ferrocement, earth-sheltered, domes, etc., visit Suspro.org. They are a "real" non profit group of volunteers, actively creating sustainability, sustainable housing, alternative construction, and food and crops]

The good news:

We are researching, experimenting and developing unique new sustainable crop growing methods to greatly increase yields anywhere. Ones that can even be used in the third world, in various climates and conditions. How?

By using Mother Earth’s model and adapting it to safe new hi-tech and “energy” based appropriate technologies, combined with time proven old methods that have been, for the most part, abandoned.

We know we can't “feed the world” right now, maybe someday, but in the present times we must be realistic.  But we are working on marvelous things for if and when that day will come.

We do sincerely believe we can help a lot more people though, more than any other "feed the hungry" plans or methods.

Our goal, simply put, is that we want to educate people, about our new discoveries, so they can teach others, in order to help farmers worldwide, to make a decent living again in some cases. Especially those who are struggling or have already been forced out of farming. We can show them how to make a profit in a healthy, sustainable way, with less work, less land, and less cost.

And in other cases, teach the same things to people who are not just looking in financial trouble, but need to grow food, to stave off hunger and starvation.

We also want to help single people, or families who wish to be self-sufficient and use sustainable methods, rather than further depleting limited resources, or wasting expensive energy.

If people will spread the knowledge they gain from our experimental successes and failures, it could spread like a computer virus through the internet.

Now for the bad news:

The World Ecosystem (the "doom and gloom" part - solutions later)

Our global ecosystem is "out of balance" and swings more out of balance every day. If we act quickly enough, we may be able to reverse future damage, but not irreversible damage, like species extinction.

There are many reasons for it of course, global warming (which also has many reasons), use of non sustainable resources, and building lack of sustainability as a general approach to living, the earth, housing, construction, energy, etc., etc.,

It is evidenced by rapidly increasing climate related disasters, and man-made disasters.

When people talk about "El Nino" and "La Nina" causing these changes, they totally miss the point, and the source.  They are involved, but the point is we have created these ocean phenomena.

But while that phenomenon contributes to creating havoc with the weather - they are just one of many symptoms, not the essential cause of climatic problems.

The climate, and other eco-related imbalances, are causing severe food shortages, flooding, droughts, around the world (amongst other things).  But there is so much more. globe, amongst other, potentially worse things.

Science fiction-like diseases have been found in soil, and animals.

Scientists have taken before and after blood tests of people who move into forests of jungles that have been cut or excavated. After they have lived there for a short while, they are tested again.  And new mystery viruses are found.

Fish are so full of mercury, that regulatory agencies warn that serious brain damage to unborn children can occur from a woman eating just one fish dinner - even prior to getting pregnant, let alone during.

The mainstream television news just reported that 90% of all big fish, have been fished out.

There is far more, but again, all of this isn't the source of the problem, they are only symptoms of the entire situation of the lack of sustainability caused by humans living out of harmony with, and ignoring the implications of what they do to, Mother Nature

LIVING WITH NATURE

The two major and oldest ways of civilized living known on Earth, are farming and herding (now called ranching).  Businessmen and stores depended on the success of the farmers and ranchers also.  And both the food and meat until recently, was all organic (by default, because there was nothing artificial invented yet).

Yes, our elders and pioneers were somewhat "green", because they had to live with nature harmoniously to a degree, in order to survive. But they were also the first ones to look around and say, "There's plenty of lumber, land, water, food, animals" etc., and begin to think that it could never run out.

So many also began un-sustainable living. Un-sustainability that is now far out of control. But it was still far, far better than what we have now. And I believe if they could have seen the future, they would have come up with new ways of doing things, if for nothing else but to save the world for their children.

But for a while now, old ways of life, multi-generational family farmers and ranchers, have been finding their land and livelihood disappearing.

SAVE THE HUMANS

There are environmentalists who are concerned about living in harmony with nature, just because they see what is happening to the world at large.  But there are those who dismiss environmental concerns, and dislike environmentalists, using arguments that human jobs and livelihood are more important than whales, forests, or eco-friendly ways of living. That is true, but people who view things that way are missing the "big picture" point.  Many people don't realize that when the ecosystem breaks down far enough,  the human species, is also at stake.  I've seen bumper stickers that say "Forget the whales, save the humans".  That could be taken two ways.  But in one way, it's true - and directly related.  Humans are more sensitive to Earth changes than many other species, and they belong on the top of the endangered species list.

Unfortunately, we can't go back in time to the simpler days of abundant resources. And in most cases, we can't undo certain types of damage that's been done.  But we must try to stop further damage, and develop ways to live in modern times - sustainably. If we don't, our species will disappear with the others that are disappearing daily.

One of the areas of our global crisis we're focusing on is food. Good, nutritious, soil, with healthy organisms, are virtually gone due to unsustainable farming methods. But more than that, In some areas, the soil is so toxic, that it isn't safe to produce food on it.  Furthermore, farmland is disappearing, and small family farmers are living in poverty and losing their farms. Some from lack of income, some because of the spread of cities, towns, and resort areas. Meanwhile, millions of impoverished people in the world continue to go hungry.

ENERGY CRISIS

In the US, our energy demands are larger than anywhere else in the world. Electricity comes from where? It's generated by hydro-electric plants that displace the natural environment - and that's the best of the methods. It's also made by other dangerous or polluting means, which further destroy plants, animals, and the little good soil we have left.

Electric cars, which are touted as pollution solutions, are an interesting concept, but if they get their energy from electricity produced by the above methods, they are not truly eco-friendly at all.

The only form of energy that is truly sustainable and ecologically sound, is hydrogen (if produced properly).  You just take water, add electricity from Solar power, and you divide H2O into it's two parts, oxygen, and hydrogen. When you mix them back together and burn it, such as in an internal combustion (regular modern car engine), the pollution it produces, is pure water.

The weather imbalances are only going to continue to get worse, year after year. Maybe we'll have a good year or so, but in the long run, it will get worse and worse. That is also destroying crop production, lives, cities, and threatens to get worse. It even threatens life itself.

Earlier I mentioned about the big fish disappearing. Another, even more alarming story, is that scientists are predicting global warming will destroy all coral reefs by the year 2075, thus destroying the entire oceanic food chain, which crosses over to the land food chain.

We need to turn to natural harmonious sustainable systems very soon, so we can save lives, not just whales, but people too. And our lifestyles. Rich or poor, we can all benefit.

Well, enough doom and gloom, let's get to the solutions!. We have both new ways of living in harmony with nature, and old ways.  And we really don't have to sacrifice our lifestyles, just make a few minor adjustments. See the links on the left for the solutions and real methods of implementation.
